As severe storms were rolling across the Southern Maryland area, the assignment was alerted to the area of Mechanicsville Road and Zane Court for the working barn fire. This brought Stations 2, 22, Charles and EMS Station 29.
Brush 2 (FF/EMT Colvin), Engine 21 (Chief-2A) and Engine 23 (Sgt. Cox) arrived simultaneously to find a well advanced fire in a large barn. Engine 23 had been placed in service from a working fire on the west side of the county. Engine 21 hit a hydrant off of Zane Court and laid into the scene with Engine 23 picking it up. The crew advanced the rear 350' 1.75" as well as the portable deluge gun.
Engnie 24 arrived next and positioned themselves to utilize their deluge gun with Engine 21 supplying them. Once the bulk of the fire was darkened down, crews moved in for overhaul with hooks opening up bales of hay and pulling tin from the structure.
Firefighters worked for approximately three hours on the scene with no injuries reported.
